Congratulations to Callie K. Terris, Winner of the Plaxen Adler Muncy Scholarship Award

Plaxen Adler Muncy, P.A. is pleased to announce that law student Callie K. Terris is the winner of the 2020 Plaxen Adler Muncy Scholarship. Callie is a 3L student at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, on course to graduate in May 2021.

Callie’s personal experiences have driven her to pursue her dreams of being a personal injury attorney. During her time in law school, she’s worked as a Research Assistant and a Teaching Assistant, helping her fellow students learn the intricacies of legal writing – skills that served her well in her position as a law clerk, and will help her as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Mark A. Kearney.

Callie is an active part of the legal community. She was the recipient of the 2020 Villanova Workers’ Compensation Class’s “Top Gun” Award, and the 2021 Irvin Stander Award Nominee for the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section, nominated by the Honorable Todd B. Seelig. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, and the Vice-President of the Personal Injury Law Society.

Dedicated to giving a voice to those in need

As she told us:

“During my first-year torts class I became fascinated with personal injury cases, specifically those involving instances of negligence. I flipped through the pages of the case book infuriated that every day, people went out into the world and suffered life-changing, and sometimes fatal injuries, because others failed to do what they were supposed to. It opened my eyes to a group of people who needed voice, and that became my fuel. I look forward to spending my career holding those whose actions caused avoidable injuries, accountable for their actions.”

“This scholarship was designed for law students who plan on using the civil justice system to level the playing field for the injured. Callie embodies the spirit of this scholarship, and we are pleased to honor her this year,” said firm founder Bruce Plaxen.

About the Plaxen Adler Muncy Scholarship award

Each year, the Plaxen Adler Muncy Scholarship awards $2500 “to a law student who has demonstrated an interest in civil trial advocacy and a career as a civil trial lawyer, as well as the concept of a fair Civil Justice system, a just result for the injured, a desire to represent the injured and those whose rights are jeopardized.” The student must also possess a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

To be eligible for the scholarship award, the student must be enrolled in, or have been accepted to, an accredited law school. Applicants must submit a resume, an essay of up to 1000 words that speaks to how they fit the criteria, and up to three letters of recommendation. The Firm is currently accepting applications for 2021.
